Earth Skills:  At every camp we try to demonstrate creative uses for renewable and sustainable natural resources.  Whether it is building and firing clay pots, weaving baskets from foraged vines, or making herbal salves or natural teas, we encourage interaction with nature and enjoyment of its many fruits.

Outdoor Survival Skills: From building debris shelters to learning to find and purify water, we strive to teach participants how to make there way in the wilderness.  Campers will return home with a knowledge of edible and medicinal plants, and at various camps will learn skills such as fire starting and safety, archery, knife safety, primitive cooking, plant and animal identification, etc.

Movement and Music Arts:  Group leaders share their skills and passions as they apply to health, fun, and personal growth.  Running through the woods and climbing over designed obstacles, participants will learn to be quick and agile in mind and body.  Discipline and coordination are shared through Capoeira, Parkour, Obstacle Courses, Drumming, Singing, and natural art projects.

Sustainable/Natural Living:  Students will learn and enjoy practical solutions to life’s varied needs.  How do I find or grow my own food/medicine/fuel?  What can I use to build a house, an oven, or bed?  What is there to do outside that is fun?s

“Camp RAW was a dream come true for Sehr, he didn’t know a summer day camp could possibly be that much fun”. -
Matt Saitta-Burne – RAW Parent

“Camp RAW was the best time my kids had last summer. They loved the combination of healthy outdoor activities with creative tasks, team-based games, and time reserved for quiet/solitary activities as needed. And best of all (for me as a parent), they came home each day happily exhausted! Please offer RAW next summer; we’re really looking forward to it.” -Dr. Joe Bianco – RAW Parent
“The environment of interactive progressive learning at the farm is nurturing to the children and minds of our region. It is a vital resource for residents of the area and provides invaluable experiences to cultivate stewardship for the earth within those lucky enough to be touched by it”.  -Chelsea Goettge Director, Appalachian Progressive Education Center
“Weston provides children and adults the place and space to become grounded again- appreciating the thrill of picking mulberries high in a tree, to soaking ones whole body in a muddy pond. His work is deeply important”.  Dr. Jane Broecker – RAW Parent
