Appalachia Rising Community Festival

On June 10th, 2017, join us for the 2nd annual Appalachia Rising Community Festival
and the first RAW Gauntlet Obstacle Course Race.

This family friendly event features a day of outdoor fun and education.  Play on an exciting obstacle course, or join the competitive race, swim in the pond, and enjoy the farm atmosphere. Experience local artisanal food, Ohio craft beer, live music, free play on the recreation grounds, plus scheduled kids activities and games, and adult sustainable living educational walks and talks.

Food and Beverages for Sale:

Solid Ground Farm, Pork and Pickles, and Nixtamalized and will be serving up delicious regional dishes, including some special mulberry inspired meals thanks to a SARE agricultural grant.  Ohio craft beer from Jackie O’s and Little Fish and Mead from Dutch Creek Winery for sale for those of age and delicious local soda for the kids.  Please, do not bring your own alcoholic beverages.

Festival admission is $10/person (proceeds allow us to offer free RAW Camp tuition to those in need).  Limited onsite parking is available for a fee ($10/car). A free shuttle (15 passenger van) will run every 20 minutes from noon to 10pm from the Athens County Job and Family Services parking lot on 13.

Volunteers needed.  Work a four hour shift and receive free admission, a beverage token, and a t-shirt.

Come Prepared
Please, come prepared for a fun day outside.  We suggest you bring a swimsuit and towel if you want to swim or play on some of the water obstacles, a lawn chair or blanket (we will have seating at the food court), and a change of clothes for you and your kids as everyone may get muddy playing on the obstacles.  Bring an ID if you plan to drink beer and some cash (we can also take Visa and Mastercard, but cash is easier). Food will be for sale throughout the day.  Please, do not bring your own alcohol as it is not allowed under our permit.

Please, carpool and drive slowly and carefully on Liars Corner Rd.
